Artist's Comments

This picture was taken in April of 2006 [Midwest Horse Fair is pretty much heaven for me - its where I get all my best shots, but this will change with my new camera where I will take pictures at Dressage shows. I used a Minolta Dimage S404, a bulky yet trusty camera from days when 3x Optical Zoom and 4 Megapixtels were amazing.

[As a note, those who think 4 Megapixtels are terrible, this picture has no more noise at the highest zoom on my editing program than pictures with 8 Megapixtels. There are some wonderful articles explaining how little megapixtels matter on the internet such as this one: [link] This photograph hangs in my bedroom as an 8 by 10 and it is not pixtellated at all.]

Very nice shot!

The only thing I would correct would be to remove the partial people from the background, the legs and boots are distracting.

Thank you! I still need to upload the other one that I took at the same time of him facing away. I prefer that one to this one, by far.

You're welcome, I'd be happy to look at a few more of your pictures and comment as well. =) It's hard to get comments sometimes, and I love getting criticism. The harsher the better!

You can download a program like the GIMP from [link]. It's similar to photoshop, just a little different controls. It's pretty powerful, and the nice thing is that it's free. Some of it you can figure out on your own, otherwise if you google GIMP tutorials or something like that you can learn more about it. Brightness/Contrast on there is under Tools -> Color Tools -> Brightness-Contrast. There are alsom some really fun effects to use under Filters.
